DMV Increases Minimum Wage

When the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles reopened officers for in-person transactions they also increase worker’s minimum wage to $15 an hour. The average starting wage had been around $13 an hour. Officials say the increase is because the department is competing with other businesses to find workers and it’s been a challenge during COVID-19. Around a quarter of employees are new compared with 18 months ago. Walk-in service alternates days with appointment transactions.
