The Gwynn’s Island Bridge is closed for marine openings until further notice. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation a piece of equipment being towed by a vehicle struck the bridge’s tender house Tuesday afternoon. Further inspection of the bridge will be performed today and more information on when openings will resume will be provided after the damage to the tender house is determined. All lanes of Route 233 are open.
