Lancaster County Gets 2 Historical Markers

Lancaster County is getting a pair of new historical highway markers. According to News on the Neck one will pay tribute to Armistead S. Nickens, Lancaster’s first Black elected official. Its proposed location is south of Camps Millpond. The other marker recognizes the community of Morattico which was a European settlement that arose after the completion of a major wharf on the Rappahannock. The proposed placement is intersection of Route 354 and Route 622.
