Monroe’s Birthplace Replica Now Open In Westmoreland County

A replica of James Monroe’s birthplace farmhouse in Westmoreland County is now open to the public. According to the Free-Lance Star the James Monroe Memorial Foundation held a grand opening ceremony last weekend at the site off State Route 205. The foundation signed a 99-year lease with the county in 2005 and oversaw the home’s reconstruction. Monroe was born in April of 1758 and along with George Washington was the only other president to serve in the Revolutionary War.
