Gov. Ralph Northam creates the “Executive Team on Immigrant Integration” to help Afghan refugees become commonwealth residents. Around 15,000 refugees were evacuated to Virginia and the team estimated 1,200 will settle here including Special Immigrant Visa holders and other evacuees. The team helps with affordable housing, job opportunities and immigration matters.
