Virginia Department of Fire Programs Observing Fire Prevention Week

This is Fire Prevention Week and the Virginia Department of Fire Programs’ State Fire Marshal’s Office wants Virginians to increase awareness of their household smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Officials say it’s imperative that alarms are frequently tested so homes remain protected which could drastically decrease casualties and injury caused by fires. As of September 24 there have been 28 confirmed civilian fire deaths in 2021 and 68 confirmed civilian injuries caused by household fires.
