Virginia’s Unemployment Rate Falls to 3.8 Percent in September

Virginia unemployment dropped again in September to 3.8%. It’s the 16th month in a row where unemployment was down. The private sector added over 69,000 jobs last month while there were 3,700 new public sector positions created. Virginia’s unemployment is a full percentage point lower than the national average. The largest job gains over the last 12 months are in professional and business services followed by leisure and hospitality and third were trade, transportation and utilities.
