Early voting this year in the commonwwealth is well below the numbers recorded last year but nearly 10 times higher from the last gubernatorial election. According to the Virginia Public Access Project just over 1.1 million ballots were cast as of Sunday, compared to around 195,000 ballots at the same time in 2017. The organization determined in-person early voting was more popular than mail-in ballots. 207,000 Northern Neck & Middle Peninsula voters cast early ballots.
