Herring Joins Effort To Change How Military Sex Assault Cases Are Investigated

Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring joins nearly 30 other Attorneys General asking Congress to change the way the U.S. military investigates and prosecutes sexual assaults. The bipartisan coalition calls on lawmakers to pass the Military Justice Improvement and Increasing Prevention Act of 2021. Currently, the military’s chain of command decides whether a sex assault case moves forward but the AGs say that decision should be made by independent, trained military prosecutors.
