November Proclaimed Native American Heritage Month

Gov. Ralph Northam proclaimes November as “Native American Heritage Month”. Northam says this month, we honor the peoples whose land we now call the Commonwealth of Virginia. The state is home to seven federally-recognized tribal nations as well as four additional state-recognized tribes. Northam also declared November 24th as American Indian day of Appreciation to commemorate the 344th anniversary of the Treaty of Middle Plantation, which established the first reservations in the United States.
