Governor Ralph Northam signs an Executive Order mndating that Virginia’s Tribal Nations in addition to state agencies will review state permit applications for development projects that could hurt the environment or alter tribe cultural and historic resources. The Secretary of the Commonwealth is to coordinate with tribal and state agencies to develop methods for including the commonwealth’s 7 federally-recognized tribes in the permit review proces. That process is to be completed in 90 days.
