The Town of Kilmarnock reminds the public that pedestrian safety is everyone’s responsibility. Officials say that means drivers need to stop and remain stopped for any pedestrian in a crosswalk. They say drivers are not doing that especially in the downtown area. Virginia law also requires drivers to change their course, slow down or even stop to allow pedestrians to cross intersections safely. Pedestrians are also asked to do their part to stay safe while crossing.
