Virginia records a record $2.6 billion surplus for 2021 and we’re now learning how Governor Ralph Northam wants to spend it. He proposes a $250 one-time rebate for all individual tax filers and $500 for couples. Northam alse wants to do away with Virginia’s 1.5% grocery tax but the local 1% tax would remain in effect. He’s including these items in the proposed 2-year budget that the General Assembly will consider next month.
