Retail recreational marijuana sales could start as soon as 2023 if the General Assembly decides to adopt a recommendation from its Cannabis Oversight Commission. According to 8 News the commission is suggesting approving legalized retail sales by next June which would allow for 6 months to get regulations in place. When legalization was approved earlier this year the original plan was to start retail sales in 2024. Home cultivation is currently legal in Virginia.
