Another Virginia government agency is affected by a ransomware attack. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services’ third-party provider for managing employee payroll was described as “paralyzed” by the attack where hackers demand payment to restore data access. An agency spokesman says it’s not clear if this attack is related to the one that hit the General Assembly’s IT systems. The department’s payroll is still to be issued on time.
