The Virginia Department of Transportation is suspending most highway work zones and lift most lane closures on interstates and other major roads for the holidays. The suspensions take place from noon Thursday, Dec. 23 until noon Monday, Dec. 27 and from noon Thursday, Dec. 30 until noon Monday, Jan. 3. While lane closures will be lifted in most locations, you may encounter semi-permanent work zones that will remain in place.
