The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation invites the public to start off the New Year with a first day hike at any of the 41 state parks. The department is offering free parking on New Year’s Day plus visitors will receive a commemorative sticker while supplies last. The first hike at Belle Isle State Park begins at 10:00 a.m from the camp store and the second starts from the Canoe Launch parking lot at 1:00 p.m. Get details at dcr.virginia.gov.
