Virginia’s Unemployment Rate Falls for 18 Months Straight

Virginia’s unemployment is now below what it was before COVID-19. According to Gov. Ralph Northam’s office November unemployment is 3.4% which is nearly 2-1/2 percentage points lower than this time in 2020. It’s the 18th month in a row that unemployment has dropped from the previous month. The national rate is 4.2%. The leisure and hospitality sector gained the most jobs followed by professional and business services then trade and transportation.
