With snow in the forecast for over the weekend the Virginia Department of Transportation is out pre-treating primary roads with salt brine. Pre-treatment helps to prevent ice from bonding to the pavement which can reduce the risk of hazardous travel conditions and assists crews with snow and ice removal. Officials say to plan for delays during pre-treatment and exercise extra caution around DOT trucks.
