Gloucester County lawmakers do an about face on allocating the 1% sales tax increase approved by voters for new school construction to instead pay down past school construction debt. According to the Gazette-Journal the Board of Supervisors took that action after reviewing an opinion from Attorney General Mark Herring stating the reallocation should not take place. The county budget will be reduced by $2 million to compensate for the lost revenue.
