The Route 223 bridge over Milford Haven between Gwynn’s Island and mainland Mathews County is closed for marine openings until further notice due to an emergency mechanical repair. That requires fabrication of a new part and DOT officials say a schedule for completing repairs is under development. The bridge remains open to vehicle traffic. This spring a bridge maintenance project will begin which will improve the condition of the bridge’s mechanical elements connected with the moveable swing span.
