Kilmarnock Town Council member Don Lee has resigned. According to the Rappahannock Record Lee was accused of slandering and defaming the character of a town business owner, his wife, their businesses and the town attorney. Mayor Mae Umphlett said Lee submitted his resignation on Jan. 18. Umphlett issued an apology to the business owner at the council’s meeting on Monday. The Council now has 45 days to find Lee’s replacement.
