The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors creates a committee to make the county’s historic courthouse and grounds into a place which has an educational function. According to the Southside Sentinel the new Middlesex Historical Committee will determine what needs to be part of that area so it will tell a more balanced story of the county’s history. Former Sheriff John Holmes is the only African-American honored in the courthouse.
