Town of Urbanna lawmakers seek federal funding for constructing a new well. According to the Southside Sentinel the current well does not meet Virginia standards and officials face a 2024 deadline to construct a replacement. A second well is also being constructed as a backup with a 2032 deadline. The funding will be in the form of a low-interest loan from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development division.
