A former Middlesex County Sheriff’s deputy charged with sexual asssault takes a plea deal. According to the Southside Sentinel Michael Smith of Locust Hill pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in connection with the April 2020 incident. Smith remains free on bail with sentencing scheduled for May 8. A Gloucester County prosecutor handled the case because Smith was a Middlesex County employee.
