The Gwynn’s Island bridge is again open to marine traffic. It closed last month due to an emergency mechanical repair to the bridge’s moveable swing span. Daily, scheduled openings have resumed at 2 a.m., 5 a.m., 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 7 p.m., and 10 p.m. The bridge remained open to vehicle traffic during the repair work. According to the DOT the bridge opens approximately 3,000 times a year, which is more than any other state-maintained movable bridge.
