The General Assembly is working on a bill to keep certain police records from becoming public reversing a policy to increase transparency and accountability. According to 8 News the measures passed in each chamber rolling back the expansion of Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act are now being reconciled behind closed doors. The Act’s provision to maintains access to some records for victims, immediate family and certain lawyers would remain in effect.
