GA Passes Catalytic Converter Theft Bill

Catalytic converter thieves could face a felony charge under a bill passed by the General Assembly before the 2022 session ended last weekend. The bill also requires dealers to keep purchasing records for 2 years in case of future investigations. Converters are attractive targets for theft because they contain precious metals which are sold to scrap dealers. The measure now goes to Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s desk.
