Mathews County Looks At Eliminating Voting District

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors holds a public hearing on March 22 about reducing the number of county voting districts from three to two. According to the Gazette-Journal the county’s electoral board determined the Chesapeake district had a substantially smaller population than the others. While Mathews officials are elected at-large rather than by district, the county is exempt from any requirement to redistrict based on population, but the process has to be undertaken anyway.
