The Mathews County Board of Supervisors decides not to eliminate one of the 3 voting districts after holding a public hearing on Tuesday. According to the Gazette-Journal the county’s electoral board determined the Chesapeake district had a substantially smaller population than the others. However, Mathews officials are elected at-large rather than by district so the county is exempt from any requirement to redistrict based on population.
