Carbon monoxide poisioning incidents often occur when power is out and portable generators are used. Never run a generator or any other gas-powered device inside your home or near a window. Coop officials also recommend getting furnances, water heaters and other fuel-burning appliances regularly serviced to prevent carbon-monoxide buildup.
