Unemployment Unchanged In January

Virginia’s unemployment rate in January was unchanged at 3.3% and total nonfarm payroll jobs decreased by 4,900. The January rate is 1.5% lower than last year. 16,000 more Virginians joined the labor force and the as the number of unemployed residents decreased by nearly 1,900. Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate continues to be below the national rate which was 4% in January.
