Personal-finance website WalletHub ranks Virginia near the bottom on its list of state recoveries from COVID-19. The study found unemployment claims rose more than 200% in March of 2020 compared to the previous year. Unemployment claims in Virginia are now down only 18% compared to this time in 2019. South Carolina ranked as the fastest recovered state. Iowa, Arizona, Arkansas, and Kansas round out the top five.
