Governor Glenn Youngkin makes his case for withdrawing the Commonwealth from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative by issuing a report he ordered from the Department of Environmental Quality to examine the initiative’s impact. Youngkin says the report found the Initiative is in reality a carbon tax passed on to families, individuals and businesses. He said carbon emissions rates over the last 10 years have been reduced by over 50% prior to the Commonwealth joining the Initiative.
