A ceremony to dedicate a roadside memorial in honor of Raymond W. Burrell Sr. of Deltaville takes place this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. According to the Southside Sentinel it takes place along General Puller Highway near Providence Road in the area of Deltaville Market. Burrell achieved distinction as a member of the “Black Panthers,” the first tank battalion comprised of African-Americans. They fought at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
