You have until Monday to file your Virginia income tax return and pay your taxes. Tax Commissioner Craig M. Burns tells the Southside Sentinel the deadline is the first business day after May 1. No penalties or interest will apply so long as a return is filed and full payment is made by the deadline. If you can’t file by Monday you will get an automatic 6-month extension but any taxes owed still need to be paid to avoid penalties and interest.
