Warsaw Installing Steamboat Mural To Commemorate Wellfords Wharf

The Town of Warsaw is installing a new steamboat mural on Route 360 to honor of the history of Wellfords Wharf. According to the Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society the wharf is named for Beverly Randolph Wellford who built it and a warehouse soon after he purchased the land in 1881. Before Welford bought the land it was the ferry landing from Ware’s Wharf in Essex County.
