Youngkin Wants Misdemeanor Charge For Pot Possession

Governor Glenn Youngkin is proposing that Virginia establish intermediary misdemeanor penalties for possession of more than two ounces of marijuana. According to 8 News the General Assembly’s Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission made a similar recommendation in a report last year before Virginia’s legalization law went into effect. Currently possession of more than an ounce of pot results in a $25 civil penalty.
