Virginia State Police say eight people were killed in crashes over the Memorial Day holiday. One person was riding a motorcycle and 5 were not wearing their seatbelts. While there was more traffic than last year fatalities were just over half of the number during Memorial Day weekend in 2021. During the holiday period troopers ticketed nearly 4,900 speeders and arrested 90 impaired drivers..660 individuals were cited for seat belt violations.
