Gas Tax Suspension Voted Down Again

The General Assembly reviewed Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s state budget amendments and rejected the one calling for a 3-month gas tax suspension. As in past votes the plan passed in the House of Delegates but failed in the Senate. There are other tax cuts in the 2-year spending plan including an increase in the standard deduction for single filers from $4,500 to $9,000 and for joint filers from $9,000 to $16,000. The grocery tax will also go away when the budget takes effect next month.
