General Assembly Approves Budget

The General Assembly approves a two-year state budget on Wednesday. Among the highlights are tax rebates of $250 for individuals and $500 for families plus the standard deduction is increased. But there was no action on either temporarily suspending the gas tax or giving a rebate to vehicle owners. Teachers will see salary increases under the 2-year compromise spending plan which takes effect July 1. Gov. Glenn Youngkin will now review the budget and may add amendments which the GA would have to approve.
