More Than 18,000 Virginians Gained Employment iIn May

Over 18,000 Virginians found work last month bringing the commonwealth’s workforce to over 4.2 million. According to Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office Virginia added nearly 80,000 workers since February. The unemployment rate held steady at 3 percent in May and continues to be below the national rate of 3.6 percent. Virginia’s labor force participation rate which measures the proportion of non-military individuals age 16 and older who are employed or actively looking for work rose by 0.3 percent to 63.8 percent in May.
