EAB Found In Gloucester County

The Virginia Department of Forestry says an emerald ash borer has been found in Gloucester County. It was first identified in Virginia 14 years ago and has destroyed millions of ash trees. Officials say while it specifically targets ash trees, there are some other species that are susceptible. A single beetle lays dozens of eggs which bore into the tree and feed on the inner bark and water system cutting off the tree’s nutrient flow.
