NWS Confirms Lancaster County Tornado

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down for more than 15 minutes Tuesday afternoon in Lancaster County. It developed over the Rappahannock River near Water View and then tracked southeast causing minor damage to mainly trees and a few structures as it crossed River Road. It continued southeast and caused minor damage in South Weems. Estimated peak winds were 70 miles an hour making it a category EF-0 tornado.
