You may be paying a little more for gas today but not because of surging oil prices or the holiday weekend. It’s because Virginia’s gas tax increases by 7% today and while that tax is assessed to oil companies a Triple-A spokesperson says it will likely be passed along to consumers. Gov. Glenn Youngkin was unsuccessful in getting the General Assembly to suspend the state gas tax despite multiple attempts.
