Virginia’s reign atop CNBC’s list of best states for business is over. In the latest ranking by the cable channel the Commonwealth slipped to number 3. The top spot goes to Virginia’s next-door neighbor North Carolina which finished second in last year’s ranking. Writers said the Tar Heel state’s leaders put aside their very deep political divisions to boost business and the economy. Washington state came in second and the worst state for business in 2022 is Mississippi.
