Labor Day Weekend Traffic Crashes Claim 6 Lives

6 people were killed in Labor Day weekend crashes across Virginia. According to State Police 2 of those killed were pedestrians and 3 were not wearing a seatbelt. There were 10 traffic deaths during the 2021 Labor Day weekend. Troopers ticketed more than 4,000 speeders and stopped 1800 reckless drivers. Mearly 90 DUI arrests were made and 435 seat belt violation tickets were issued. Fines from State Police summonses go directly to court fees and the state’s Literary Fund.
