Northern Neck Electric Cooperative reports just over 1,700 members lost serviceFriday afternoon as a result of Hurricane Ian. The outages were in Lancaster, Northumberland and King George counties. According to a co-op spokesperson the Northumberland County outage resulted from a tree that fell on a major transmission line. Earlier on Friday linemen prepared trucks, sharpened chainsaws, and performed safety checks on equipment to prepare for impacts from the storm.
