Mathews County is joining in a national effort to honor veterans. The Gazette-Journal reports the county is working with the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers in “Operation Green Light for Veterans”. County buildings and offices will have green illumination this month and through the week of Veterans Day. Individuals and businesses are encouraged to change one light bulb in the entryway of their house or business to a green bulb.
