Kilmarnock Mayor Mae Umphlett made history earlier this month when she visited Tangier Island Mayor James “Ooker” Etheridge. The Rappahannock Record reports Mayor Umphlett was given a private tour of the Tangier Museum after having lunch with Etheridge then the two exchanged gifts. It is believed this represented the first courtesy visit between the mayors of Kilmarnock and Tangier Island.
